Who is Francisco Domenech?

Francisco Javier Domenech was born on April 29, 1978 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He spent part of his early life in Ocala, Florida where he attended Trinity Catholic School and Forest High School. Currently, 40 year old Domenech, is a lawyer and managing partner of Politank, a law firm dealing with government affairs.

Domenech demonstrated political interest as a prominent youth activist while attending college at the University of Puerto Rico’s Rio Piedras Campus. In 1998-1999, Domenech served as the Student Body President of the College of Social Sciences. Later, in 1999-2000, he served as President of the General Student Body Council. Domenech graduated twice from the University of Puerto Rico, once in 1999, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, and again in 2003, when he obtained his Juris Doctor degree. Following graduation, Domenech remained actively involved in politics. From 2005-2008, he served as Director of the Office of Legislative Services in the Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico. From 2007-2012, Domenech represented the Young Democrats of America as a member of the Democratic National Committee. In 2008, he became National Co-Chair of Hillblazers, a group of young students and professionals who were inspired by and supported Hillary Clinton’s historic campaign for President of the United States. He also served as Clinton’s Deputy Campaign Manager in Puerto Rico during her 2008 primary campaign. Domenech again managed Clinton’s primary campaign and served as her spokesperson in 2016.

As well as being interested in national politics, Domenech is also involved in Puerto Rican politics. He identifies as a member of the New Progressive Democratic Party. Therefore, in 2016, many were surprised when he worked on the campaign of Republican Jennifer Gonzalez, who was running for Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico. Domenech became involved with the Puerto Rico Physician’s Association, and ran two successful campaigns, one in 2014, and one in 2016, to first elect, then reelect the current president. In Puerto Rico, Francisco Domenech is a well known political figure who provides frequent commentary on issues, and his opinions and ideas are often quoted by main media outlets.
