Why Kevin Seawright Has High Hopes With Newark Youth Economic Development Program

Kevin Seawright recently took up the position of the Executive Vice President of the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation popularly known as Newark CEDC. He also got the post of the Chief Financial Officer in the same corporation. The Newark Community Economic Development Corporation is an established primary agency fostering economic development in Newark City. This city is the largest city in New Jersey. Before he joined this corporation, Kevin Seawright previously worked at Maryland’s Departments of Recreation and Parks as the Chief Financial. He was also the Facilities Officer in this state department and was tasked with the management of $50 million; funds derived from city, state, and federal administrations. Kevin Seawright has also been in the educational platform as a fiscal management leader whose duties involved budget creation. He was responsible for the whole budgetary process that covered over $200 million each year. He also supervised projects in the educational sector such as the construction of schools and other educational infrastructures.

The Newark Community Economic Development Corporation under the leadership of Kevin Seawright has come up with a project that seeks to provide summer employment opportunities for the Newark youths. Kevin Seawright shared his hope that the corporation’s new employment project will be successful in providing employment opportunities for the youth of Newark area come summer. He said that their Youth Summer Employment program which will be open to all Newark students also aims to provide this youth with the necessary skills for graduation. Kevin Seawright further stated that he hopes that this project will be able to impact these youth lives beyond school for their success in their careers. Kevin Seawright said that he is dedicated to seeing to it that this program is successful and benefits most of the youth in the area by giving them a source of income for their holidays. This will foster economic development in the area as this youth can save this money to start economic development projects in Newark area.

Kevin Seawright said that the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation will work in collaboration with NewarkWorks. This corporation will also collaborate with other change driven personalities and organizations in Newark to push this youth empowerment agenda. He said that the youth employment opportunities will be available for the summer 2016 season, and it is expected to go on in the coming years. Kevin Seawright said that the youth jobs will run for a period of six weeks. Furthermore, this youth will receive a good payment for the work done. The youth employment program will come as a package comprising of on-the-job training, economic empowerment lectures, financial investment literacy lessons, and college preparation and readiness programs. Kevin Seawright said that this employment program will give over 3000 youths from Newark area a job for the summer.
